NiteRider To Do A Bicycle Computer Line

April 28th, 2008 by Guitar Ted

NiteRider, a well known producer of lighting for bicycles, is expanding to produce a bicycle computer line. Dubbed the “Rebel” series, the computers will be available in five different models ranging in price from $29.99 to $199.99.

Besides currently in vogue features such as backlit screens, tool free mounting, and large, easy to read symbols, the most interesting feature offered on two of the higher end models is a power meter. The lower priced of the two models with this feature is $150.00 and would bring power meter technology down to a much more affordable price. No word yet on just how the power meter works, but if it is reasonably accurate and reliable it will be a very popular upgrade for many budget stressed athletes.

No word yet on when these new NiteRider computer models might be available. Stay tuned for futher updates.

My guess is the $150 product will be ant+sport http://www.thisisant.com/index.php?section=30 compatible meaning it will be able to display data from an ant+sport powermeter like quarq http://www.quarq.us/

New garmins will also be able to do this. It’s really cool technology.
