Tomi Cog : A Preview
January 30th, 2008 by ArleighMy mail man brought me a sweet present in the form of a brown envelope. Inside taped to a piece of cardboard was a couple new cogs from TomiCog for GTed and myself. As bikes have changed purposes since I purchased these cogs 2 weeks ago I’m not sure what wheel/bike this will end up on but I’m excited. Maybe I’ll need to pick up a new frameset for the need.

The cogs themselves are well made. I took a couple close ups and once I get them mounted up I will have more photos for you all.

i’ve been running my tomicog on my monocog 29er for a couple of weeks now. zero complaints. it arrived quickly, went on easily. i’m very happy to have my bike running as a fixie for the low low price of $35.
i’d totally recommend the setup.
i really surprised myself after a few miles of riding when my body (not my brain) realized that i could force a little skid in a turn by applying mild back pressure. this of course makes the turn quicker and i’ve started to do it in tight corners. it happened intuitively and it is not something i have ever done with a rear brake before. cosmic…
hhhhhhmmmmmmm, I might pick one up for my MCR build.
Now THAT’S a true bike tinkerer’s “excuse” — to justify building a new bike around a cool cog!! Good on ya!
I think others have tried the disc-hole mounted cog setup before, but it appears the Tomi cogs have also figured out a way to make them affordable (unlike the Boone titanium models, which are dreamy but way too expensive)! Bravo!
