Danger Boy Gripped Levers
January 22nd, 2008 by ArleighThere are a pair of Juicy 7’s that have floated between 5-6 bikes in the past 3 years. They have been re bled, needed new hoses a couple times and keep on kicking as if they were new. As mainly a single speeder there are few things I obsess with and brakes are one of them. How the brake is set up, the lever pull, angle and so on.I’ve had my eyes on a replacement set of levers that would fit my hand and riding style a bit better.
Enter Danger Boy and their beautiful gripped levers that come in multiple colors for different hydraulic systems. Speed Goat was one of the few places I found decent options for colors and brakes that truly had them in stock. Some online dealers claim they have something in stock until 2 weeks later you get an email notifying of a back order issue. Their customer service was dead on and that is coming from someone that has spent half her life working in retail.

A few days later the envelope of goodness shows up at my door. The installation was easy and will be documented over at BlueCollarMTB.com as all you need are some allen wrenches. I test rode them this morning on my 13 mile commute and they are wonderful. The angle of the lever is awesome. I needed to pull the lever in towards the bar closer than normal since the groove for my pointer finger is at the end of the lever.

For $69 plus shipping I will be making this upgrade to all my hydraulic brakes. Especially since I can get the same feel on the lever for my Hayes and Avid brakes. I think they would look better on the black Juicy’s but they match my pink Chris King headset oh so well!
