Ay Up! : First Ride
January 21st, 2008 by ArleighThis past Wednesday was my first night ride with the Ay Up lighting setup. The ride is a 6 mile loop that is either done 2 or 3 times depending on the weather.
As normal I did a lap on my own and outfitted with only the bar mount light as the sun was just starting to set. Arriving back at the meeting spot I put the helmet light on and put the battery in my pocket. Again super easy to use and with the light weight I barely noticed it on my head. I was only out for 2 hours so I wasn’t able to test out the battery capabilities but plan to get there in the next few weeks.
Thoughts so far :
- No on/off switch. The plug is what turns on or off the light which is very easy to use with bulky gloves on.
- Pivoting heads. Each head pivots up/down individually so you can spread the beam up your trail or in front of you with the same light system.
- Too many zip ties. I’ve outfitted myself with more Velcro straps to play with mounting but I don’t like that changing things on the side of the trail is limited.
The next few weeks will lead more riding and photos.
